The statistics are sobering: 1 in 3 Canadian women encounter intimate partner violence (IPV) in their lifetime, and for many, the physical force or strangulation results in traumatic brain injuries that last a lifetime. Because these injuries are 100% preventable if we stop the violence, our volunteers dedicate this powerful 7-day initiative to making a real-world difference.

The Impact of Your Gift During Purple Thursday x7:
  • Providing Care Bags: Funding the assembly and distribution of over 5,000 Purple Care Bags delivered directly to Canadian shelters. These bags provide immediate daily essentials, hygiene products, books, and toys for women, children, and men fleeing violence with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
  • Driving Education & Research: Supporting national virtual knowledge events and research symposiums in partnership with leading experts, connecting survivors, shelters, and healthcare professionals to better recognize and respond to IPV-related brain injuries.
  • Grassroots Advocacy: Empowering our local chapters to host community information blitzes, youth poster contests, and fundraising events to break the cycle of violence.
